Glenan Lodge Guest House - Glenan Lodge is a traditional country house with private fishing in a village location just 15 miles south of Inverness and 15 miles north of Aviemore on the main A9. 6 Caberfeidh - This family-run establishment is 5 minutes' walk from train and bus stations, and 2 minutes' walk from the High Street and restaurants. Hosts Wilma and Jim have run 6 Caberfeidh as a B&B for 18 years and have many return-customers and friends. Jim has a taxi for tours and local runs and can help with local knowledge and advice on where to go for day trips etc. The cosy Tourist Board-rated establishment has en suite rooms, and offers a choice of vegetarian, continental and full Scottish breakfast. There is also a nice four-poster room with a corner bath and a view over the loch.

Creag Meagaidh - Set within the Cairngorm National Park, this small, family-run guest house offers the ideal base from which to explore the wonderful mountain ranges of Cairngorm and Monadh Liath. A comfortable and modern home, Creag Meagaidh stands in the village of Newtonmore, which has a wonderful circular route around it called the Wildcat Trail. This is a fabulous walk (or run) with great views of the River Spey, the Cairngorm Mountains, Creag Dubh, woodlands, waterfalls and all sorts of wildlife. For moments of relaxation, the house has a secluded patio area at the rear. There is also ample parking space to the front of the house, and a secure cleaning and storage area for bikes, skis and other equipment.

The Ferry Inn - The last hotel on the A9, The Ferry Inn at Scrabster is newly renovated and has wonderful sea views. Just north of Thurso, Scrabster Harbour is the gateway to the Orkney Islands. The renowned restaurant, The Upperdeck, has a fantastic steakhouse and also specialises in locally caught seafood. The lively Popeye's is a public bar with a wide-screen TV showing sporting events. The en suite bedrooms have tea/coffee facilities and flat-screen TVs with Freeview channels.

Willowbank - Willowbank is one of the very few listed buildings within the Cairngorms National Park and offers bed and breakfast accommodation just 15 minutes' drive from Aviemore. Willowbank licensed guest house is one of the first properties on the edge of the town as you enter from the South, Aviemore and the Cairngorms.
